Thunder! It is

  • FOSS
  • Cross-platform (Android/iOS and you can even build for desktop or web)
  • Has some neat features that I haven't seen in other clients, like a really customizable FAB, material you theming, multiple anonymous instances, ping time and version info for instances, supports 0.19 including new features like instance blocking, an advanced share that can create a microblog style image to share posts
  • Very good accessibility
  • and lots more.

Coming from Relay for Reddit, I feel very at home in Thunder!

• Apple rejects Hey calendar app for not allowing non-paying users to do anything within the app.

• Hey had previously faced a similar rejection from Apple for its original iOS app four years ago.

• Hey plans to fight Apple's decision, but the specific approach is not yet known.

• Medical device maker Masimo is confident it can win its legal battle against Apple over a feature on the Apple Watch, citing previous victories against True Wearables, a startup run by a former Apple executive.

• Masimo alleges that Apple couldn't have developed certain watch technologies without the help of Marcelo Lamego, who previously worked at both Masimo and Apple.

• Masimo CEO Joe Kiani accuses Apple of a deliberate infringement of intellectual property, resulting in an import ban on certain Apple Watch models, which has been temporarily paused pending further review.

• Google Nexus phones had a rich history, with different manufacturers bringing Google's vision to life.

• The Nexus One, built by HTC, was a capable smartphone but didn't excel in competition.

• The Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, and Nexus 5 all offered unique features and brought the pure-Android experience to a wider market.

  • YouTube recently added ambient mode to its full screen video player, which complements its new rounded video player design.
  • Ambient mode works by illuminating a glow around the video window, similar to LED backlights for TVs, to create a more immersive experience for users.
  • A recent update has made ambient mode more vibrant on Android devices, extending the glow below and above the video player, but it can be disabled in settings if not preferred.

And the worst part (to me):

if a video is not formatted to take up your entire screen, an ambient glow has been added to the black filler bars

• Mozilla plans to implement Trusted Types in Firefox to reduce web attacks relying on injected code.

• Trusted Types has been successful in preventing DOM-based XSS on popular websites.

• As more websites adopt Trusted Types, XSS attacks are expected to become less common.

• Companies are restricting user freedom by limiting the use of adblockers and controlling online content interaction.

• Growing crackdown on browser extensions raises concerns about user control over online experiences.

• The right to use adblockers is being challenged as companies exert more control over user interactions with online content.

Not to editorialize, but I think this is kind of a crazy article. Sharing for the laughs and the discussuon.

Regardless of what you think of Microsoft, SwiftKey is far and away the best mobile keyboard for autocorrect. I try to stick with stock apps but the Google keyboard just doesn't cut it.

The headline is pretty negative but the actual article is a pretty insightful look at the behind-the-scenes of the demo and how they made it work.

• Steve Jobs faked full signal strength and swapped devices during the first iPhone demo due to fragile prototypes and bug-riddled software.

• Engineers got drunk during the presentation to calm their nerves.

• Despite the challenges, Jobs successfully completed the 90-minute demonstration without any noticeable issues.

That's Beeper Cloud, not Beeper Mini.

Well that didn't take long...

• Beeper, the company behind iMessage for Android, faces an outage after Apple cuts off its access.

• The highly anticipated service, which brought blue bubble texts to Android, may have violated Apple's terms of service.

• Beeper's access to iMessage was revoked soon after its launch, raising questions about the feasibility of the service.

There is a HackerNews mirror on Lemmy

Mind sharing?

• A new Android app called Beeper Mini allows users to send iMessages as blue bubbles from non-Apple devices.

• Beeper Mini bypasses traditional iMessage hacks by directly sending iMessages from Android devices.

• The app has been praised for its smooth functionality, sending messages seamlessly between Android and iPhone users.

• Firefox for Android is reintroducing an open ecosystem of extensions, set to be available on December 14, with a dedicated extension page for easy discovery. • Mozilla has released a preview of the upcoming extensions, including popular ones like Bitwarden's password manager and AdGuard's ad blocker. • Firefox aims to gain an advantage over rivals like Google Chrome by supporting a wide range of third-party extensions on Android, while Firefox extensions availability on iOS remains uncertain.
