i3 is just a class the generation matters a lot a current gen i3 is very fast.

The point of the ports is so you don’t need to have an external dongle. They arnt really there to hot swap but provide the right port always there so they shrewdly shouldn’t wear out and usb is more than fast enough for almost any port type now. I would much rather have a laptop with an Ethernet port and a full size HDMI than one with a single USB c that forces me to also pack a chonky dongle. Would rather just pack the cables .
It is GREAT as an option but not as the primary. I love it for small trips for a small number of things .
However for any medium to large shopping trip I would prefer to have someone there scanning while I unload and load.

Making an improvement for something that can be recycled and thus should REDUCE over time is a a MASSIVE improvement over doing nothing and bitching about it.
It can be recycled.. Unlike the oil and gas used up in ICE cars.

Going to argue it isn't as bad as shale / oil sands projects. Also the battery is mostly aluminum, copper and nickel in the anode and cathode, all that has to be mined as well.
The products of the Oil industry are also consumed and can't be recycled, something like 90% of a battery can be recycled and reused.
Even for unrepairable, at fault replacement(you stepped on it) apple will normally sell you a reconditioned perfect replacement for 50% the cost.
Reliable repair and ultrafast swap and restore are one off the reasons I stick with apple.
In no case is it ever “ almost the price of a new one”.
