Okay, I’ll admit that the wing turrets could have been a good idea if done well. Maybe.
Nothing however beats the Breda M30 LMG.
Damn. The Wikipedia page reads like an article on how not to design a machine gun.
Oh it was an absolute dumpsterfire. A M1 Garand probably had a higher sustained rate of fire.
According to the article it is very much comparable:
"When considering all of the gun's deficiencies, taken during combat when it was at its worst, the practical rate of fire of the Breda 30 could even have been comparable to a semi-automatic weapon's practical rate of fire, as the standard American rifle was (the M1 Garand and M1 Carbine) and the later German Gewehr 43."
Really a fun read.
yeah, and if you check out the forgotten weapons video on the gun you can actually see that on top of all that they were probably really expensive to make!
