“The data was incredibly unconvincing. It is as if Microsoft Quantum was attempting a simultaneous Rorschach test on hundreds of people,”

I'm just shocked that microsoft lies, just shocked.

We discussed this at work today (physicist here). Essentially the related paper(s) are based on data fits that could indicate functioning, although really shitty, qubits.

Looking at the fitted data I'd wager they might just as well have fitted noise. Really not convincing at all.

Most of academia had already abandoned majorana qubits, so this claim by Microsoft really caught people off guard - and extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - something Microsoft lacks.

I don't think Microsoft really did anything extra, I think the media just got trended real hard.

I had known about Microsoft's work on this topological chip for at least a year before the recent rage about it thanks to a youtube channel called domain of science who went over what was happening here, he is a quantum hardware developer first but stopped to make this YouTube channel which creates maps of various fields of science, its a very good channel highly reccomend it!

It‘s so funny how headlines about this shifted from surprise, to hopeful to now very doubtful in a matter of days.

If Microsoft really lied.. Then there is zero trust left.. The trust in Microsoft was already at the bottom on my end. I'm not using any Microsoft product for example, but this new quantum chip lie would really be the bottom of the bottom for me.
