I'd say the real first is Signal tbh, but not taking anything away from SimpleX

He specifically articulates the problem with Signal in the talk which is collection of metadata (phone numbers).

As bad as it is, phone numbers are a feature, not a bug

No one is saying it’s a bug. Why not Signal?

A feature can be turned off. Phone numbers are mandatory for a signal account

Just checked my battery usage by app.

SimpleX has the first place with 35%, with the next app being the browser with mere 12% :/

The punch line? I'm not even using SimpleX, it's just installed on my phone because there were a few chats I wanted to join.

Yup it loves to run in the background on startup, I always exit it right away whenever I restart my phone... Try that on your phone maybe it will help, 35% is insane

SimpleX is great, but it needs to mature a little in regards to usability. The desktop app is abysmally slow, and the amount of memory it uses really needs to be trimmed down. If they manage to streamline these two things, I could see SimpleX becoming quite popular. I'm definitely keeping an eye on it.
