For anyone not yet aware this video series is adapted from a 12 year old blog of the same name: https://what-if.xkcd.com/1/. If you like these hypotheticals, you can find more in the archive.

“ A careful reading of official Major League Baseball Rule 6.08(b) suggests that in this situation, the batter would be considered "hit by pitch", and would be eligible to advance to first base.”

Yeah, I love Randall's old blog. Super happy that they're getting remastered in video form with narration by the man himself.

Oh is that him?

I was going to be disappointed that someone was just reading them, rather than directing people to the original source, but if it's the source reading them, I'm rather happy, but the absorber doesn't get the foot notes or image caption things.

Yeah, that's him. He's listed in the credits:

Narrated by and based on "What If" by Randall Monroe

I would never have shared it if it were just some random person freebooting his content.

You do make a good point about the footnotes and mouseover text. I wonder if there would be some way to weave them into the videos. Perhaps inserting them as a single fleeting frames? It's a shame YouTube got rid of annotations, as the "hidden annotations" seem like they'd be a perfect fit for this.
