The initialism is decades older than any iDevice. Go complain to people on USENET from before you were born.

While true, it is a pretty bad acronym. IANAL on mobile is more cumbersome to write than, "I'm no lawyer/I'm not a lawyer," and it's safe to say the majority of folks using social media are on mobile.

Not really though. It’s a caps lock + 5 letters. It’s still faster and less cumbersome than a multiple word phrase

On mobile, the initialism takes a third or less as much time for me vs typing it out.

What if you want to tell someone that you're not a lawyer, but you are into anal? Then it's just efficient.
