So we shouldn't have taken him seriously when he wanted to change The Gulf of Mexico to The Gulf of America right?

Or when he said he's begin mass deportations and sending people to gitmo? Was that a joke too?

Trump seems to have this magic ability to never be taken literally until he does the thing then people suddenly go "well, promises kept!" He gets to be taken metaphorically (as if he knows the word) or literally depending entirely on whether or not his redhat defenders need him to be taken one way or the other.
