Video airplay is just inherently flawed, it seems.

I dug into some forums to try and find a solution to this, and I was able to find a few theories, none of which completely alleviated the issue for me.

Most of them centered around the wifi signal.

If you have a lot of other devices pinging Wi-Fi between your phone and the TV, this can allegedly cause disconnects and de-syncs.

If your wifi is slow, this can allegedly cause disconnects and de-syncs.

If you live in an apartment and your wifi channel is being hugged by other residents, this can allegedly cause disconnects.

I want to re-enforce the notion that none of this fixed the issue for me, but it might be worth going through the motions to see if it does for you, because some people were saying they had success after addressing these issues.

For streaming off of sites, I have actually had resounding success using my LG tv’s web browser. Connect a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. The browser actually has a built in adblocker. You still have to deal with link redirects occasionally though.

I don’t have any issues connecting to my Apple TV in my bedroom. It’s only about 20 feet away.

I’m guessing it is webOS in some fashion. I didn’t realize that it had a browser though, thank you! I will try that

TVs are notoriously shit in the "smart" department. It's just a way for them to force more ads upon us. That said, just get another apple tv.

It's Apple being Apple. I have no issues with my Samsung Galaxy S23 and my parents LG CX or my LG C7.

I absolutely love my LG, panel quality is unmatched, but wow is webOS terrible. Got an Apple TV and will never look back, worth every penny. Especially for how often I airplay it “just works” every time

Of course Apple stuff is going to work with Apple stuff, that's their prime selling point . It would be shitty if it didn't.

Just providing a solution

Even Roku is better on our TCL panel. Fucking pathetic.

Used to be able to do this before they made you consent to sharing your data for ad purposes. I use a chromecast and a NAS. No issues so far.

Damn, thank you

Can Chromecast source NAS directly, or what's required? Jellyfin or something? Thx

My bad, i was unclear. I don’t think chromecast can source NAS. In my experience you can stream to chromecast via a device player, like VLC.

WebOS can also play files direct from a NAS though, but that obviously involves downloading in full to the NAS before playing.

You need an app on your phone that "flings" the content from the NAS, so a media server like Jellyfin.

I suppose it can source the NAS directly using something like DLNA protocol
