But why their Indian branch, the article doesn’t say.

Also I’m not an android guy but I assume APKs are just software packages. Whether or not you have the software, seems like you would need to authenticate in order to obtain paid streaming content. So I don’t really get why they would bother to take them down. (Unless maybe they are filtering ads from free content, but that’s a losing battle.)
