i dont know if this is the right place but its the best chance i got.

Phone: Pixel 8 pro Os: Lineage OS 21 (Magisk 27)

i keep getting the error "you need the official app to log in" but i have the official app. like literally the apk thats on their own damn website.

i tried Everything, hiding Magisk, setting up deny list, installing Bootloader spoofer, safetynet fix, play integrity fix, Even backing up the data from my old phone, which keeps me logged in for 5 minutes before i get a "verification expired" messege. like at this point im out of ideas. the crazy thing? on my old phone (pixel 6a, Lineageos also rooted) it worked from the very start, without any of the above fixes.

please, is there any way to get WhatsApp working in rooted LineageOS?

here a Screenshot of the error

It's weird. Do the have microG. Or try to get it with aurora Store

i got it from aurora at first, then i had this problem, i went to their Website, got their apk, still the issue persisted. i honestly dont know what the Problem could be. im gonna try to install microg later and see wether this helps

Hmm. That's really weird man. It should work without micro g out g.play . I'm running it without any of it

Maybe using whatsapp web is worth a shot? I saw a while ago a webapp apk of it on f-droid

this seems to work as a temporary fix. thank you

You could use Shelter for secondary 'profile' (user).

I forgot to mention how does it helps..

Those kind of apps (banking too) do usually work on different profile, from experience.

First I don't have or use whatsapp. But maybe you need the play services to get whatsapp working on LineageOS

no I can confirm that it work without gapps on Lineage... probably something else...

Try installing an older version, login and then upgrade too the latest version.

Maybe an older version of WhatsApp does not have the check that is blocking you from logging in.

Also, there is no adblocking or alternative dns that is blocking some calls to the WhatsApp server?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

no AdBlocking taking place, Whatsapp works just fine with a locked bootloader.

I also have LineageOS 21 and Magisk 27, and WhatsApp works without issues. I don't remember having to do anything. But I have a different phone.

Maybe the Pixel 8 LineageOS images have some issues?

Did you flash the Google apps image?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

no i didn't, as that would defeat the whole reason why i use LineageOS in the first place. if it wasnt for work and family/friends i wouldnt even be using WhatsApp. however i really doubt that this is the issue, as my old phone didn't have gapps either and it still worked
