The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

I like tasks.org but unfortunately it doesn't look like this will come any time soon.

Plus points:

  • if the task can be assigned to multiple sub-lists (or projects, buckets, etc).

I don't know how useful it will be, but i like superproductivity. Its foss, its flexible, one task can be assigned to multiple tags. There is a bit of a learning curve, especially with the android app, but for me its absolutely worth it

Wow this app is amazing! It doesn't have dependent tasks, but it does have sub tasks, which I guess is close. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Unfortunately I have tried FOSS for this too, but have only been able to get all my boxes ticked (pardon the expression) using TickTick - I love it, but it is of course premium and proprietary and

Does it sync to an open format so I can manage tasks from Linux too?

No, unless you consider manual csv.

There is a Web app that runs nicely in Firefox.

Default Gnome apps work well, but you'll need to revert to an earlier version of Gnome Todo/Tasks before it became endeavour, as they had subtasks, but unfortunately removed it with the newer version.
