I need a FOSS contact apps and only condition is, it should integrate with my system contacts so that I can use it with my dialer,messenger,etc. (Tried Connect you but too buggy)

I second that. Fossify also has a whole suite of other apps. It's a fork from Simple Tools which sold out. Fossify Gallery is awesome and also available on Play Store. Other apps are making their way there. NB! Not connected to Fossify, just a fan of what they're doing.

It is not saving them to local contact storage.

I tried saving to "Device". That seems to work.

It works fine for me, perhaps you didn't grant the app Contacts permissions?

I use Connect You (FDroid) which also creates a local backup that I use with SyncThing to create a backup on several other devices.

Losing your contacts suuuuuucks and I only did it once.

Never experienced any bugs
