Android's QR code scanner could soon get a UI refresh that makes some buttons more accessible and brings a new animation.

What camera app are they talking about? Because I'm using the stock camera app on my Pixel 6 and it doesn't look like that. It doesn't even have a separate scanner mode, you just point it at a QR code and it pops up a link.

That looks to me like the Google Lens UI

Edit: yep, it says it right at the top of the screen

Oh, I skipped right over that first image. Would it have killed them to say the app name? Because the word "lens" doesn't appear anywhere in the article. And I don't think it's installed by default; it at least wasn't installed on my phone when I checked just now. (And the fact that the first link in the article explicitly mentions the Camera app doesn't help.)

C'mon guys, do better.

It's not about Lens, they just used it as the preview image for some reason. The built-in QR scanner should be accessible through quick settings tiles (you might have to edit your quick tiles and add it), and when I launch it and go to the recent apps screen, it doesn't have any app icon, so it is at least somewhat special and not just a regular part of some other app.
