If you trust the government that controls a TLD, then use the site. If not, proceed with caution.
So what are trustworthy TLDs?
It is the same question as "What are trustworthy countries" imo
That's my point, I always have a reasonable suspicion of anything I get from the Internet, but I don't trust any site just because some underpaid functionary or corporate employee in its respective country said it's good.
I’m not suggesting that you should. But if the government that controls a TLD is not trusted, then no site under that TLD should be trusted either.
