Telling funny stories to the first person or two, so people join to: "-and it was full of corn! Hahaha really? What about the racoon? Oh uhh nevermind" and have to wonder why everyone got quiet as soon as they joined.

The waiting around for others conversations are always wild and funny. They're worth the awkward moments waiting alone.

There's a reason "awkward conversation before the call starts" is usually filled in on my conference call bingo card.
