The article actually says 2027, maybe even 2028

Umm, correct me if this seems like a bad take…but is there a need for a new console generation considering the overlap of the xbone/ps4 with this gen? Only the Nintendo Switch is in dire need of a hardware upgrade, especially with handheld gaming computers like Steam Deck offering much needed competition.

Probably yeah. If you want to game at 8k or 4k at higher frame rates, you’ll need a new generation

Maybe it was the pandemic, but I feel like the ps5 and series x/S came out like two years ago. I'm not sure if it was the lack of any generation defining games or the fact that everyone is just playing fortnite, Minecraft, and apex legends still.
